Chris Gayle is a Jamaican cricketer celebrated as one of the greatest Twenty20 batsmen ever, nicknamed the "Universe Boss" for his explosive batting style. A powerful left-handed opener for the West Indies, he played for the team from 1999 to 2021. Gayle holds numerous records, including being the first to hit a six off the first ball in a Test match, scoring the first T20 international century, and achieving the highest individual score in a T20 league match (175*). He was a key member of the West Indies teams that won the 2012 and 2016 ICC World Twenty20 titles.

As of November 2025, Chris Gayle was not playing for a team but was a brand ambassador for the Lanka Premier League and participated in the now-defunct Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL). The IHPL collapsed due to organizers allegedly fleeing without paying players and hotel staff, leaving Gayle and others briefly stranded in Srinagar.
